B. Morse over their respective importance in the invention of telegraphy; and other family papers; together with drafts, galleys and printed copies of articles and monographs about Vail by his son, James Cummings Vail including the "Early History of the Electro-Magnetic Telegraph from Letters and Journals of Alfred Vail" (1914).
